upcycling deadstock
Thank you so much for the collaboration! 🤝
A few weeks ago, I was at CIFF · Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, where, in partnership with VIA Design and Business and Epson Denmark, I showcased how we can inspire the upcycling of deadstock♻ To meet the industry’s needs, we focused on inspiring new possibilities, including our own initiative. Deadstock presents a significant challenge due to the overproduction of fabrics that either go unused or lose value when they become outdated. Our initiative addresses and contributes to solving this issue 🤲 🌱
With the goal of giving textiles new life and extending their use before recycling, there are several advantages for companies using digital printing. For this innovative project, I designed various prints that are applied to out-of-stock textiles provided by Selfmade and X-Company. The printing process varies depending on whether the fiber type is primarily synthetic or natural. For synthetic textiles, eco passport-certified dye is printed on paper, and with heat and pressure, the dye is then sublimated onto the textile. For textiles with a high content of natural fibers, it is possible to print directly onto the fabric using eco passport-certified pigment dye. The printed textile is then heat-pressed, resulting in a brand-new design 🖨
As a newly graduated fashion designer, I find it especially relevant to address the deadstock issue by exploring and finding solutions that positively impact the future. I feel personally honored to be part of collaborations that inspire and contribute to a greener future. It has been an inspiring process, which I’ve enjoyed exploring alongside some wonderful people! 💡
Thank you to everyone who stopped by at CIFF for engaging conversations and textile print trials 🤗
